Cowley Road Condors ridden by Cicely Arthur, was the winner of the Teams & Corporate Category.
The winner of the Previously Customised Category went to Alan Hancock for his ‘Skip Special’ electric bike. Alan explains..
Originally this was a Raleigh Runabout moped made in 1964. At a later stage in its life an Atco electric mower motor was fitted powered by an old 12V battery from a car. Recent refurbishments were done with parts found in skips, including a solar panel atop the the battery to keep it charged. There are 2 drive chains and a belt connecting the electric motor drive.
A WEIRD and wonderful array of customised bikes paraded through the city centre at the first ever Great British Bike Off festival.
More than 30 bikes with all manner of wacky features were ridden through Broad Street on Saturday defying the wind and rain as live music and food and drink stalls kept spectators happy.
